چکیده
Partial dilution of clad powder and the substrate to form a new protective layer is called as cladding. The present article focuses on development novel surface modification technique for better resistance wear/erosion using microwaves source heat. Clads MoCoCrSi/ WC-Co were produced austenitic stainless steel (SS-316) microwave irradiation techniques. Composite clads established by irradiating at 2.45 GHz frequency power 900W domestic applicator duration 30 minutes. Characterization developed performed in metallographic(microstructure) mechanical(hardness) tests. Careful observation microstructures revealed uniform grain structures, free from defects cladded substrate. Further, no significant cracks be found transverse section characterizing good bonding between particles demonstrates significantly higher hardness than

Improved Accident Tolerance of Austenitic Stainless Steel Cladding through Colossal Supersaturation with Interstitial Solutes
Presently, LWR (light-water reactor) fuel cladding (tube) is made from Zr-base alloys (e.g., Zircaloy). However, in steam at temperatures above 1000 K (727 °C), these alloys oxidize rapidly, stripping oxygen from water molecules and producing hydrogen, which may cause explosion. Moreover, Zr-base alloys are prone to GTRF (“grid-to-rod” fretting) failure, in which flowinduced vibration of fuel r...
متن کاملStudy on electron beam butt welding of austenitic stainless steel 304 plates and its input–output modelling using neural networks
Butt welding of austenitic stainless steel 304 plates was carried out using an electron beam. Experiments were conducted for various combinations of input process parameters determined according to central composite design. Three input parameters, namely accelerating voltage, beam current, and welding speed were considered during the experiments. The weld-bead parameters, namely bead width and ...

The present work has been carried out to study the sensitization behavior of AISI 304L austenitic stainless steel weld, fabricated using GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding process). This weld was subjected to post weld thermal aging (PWTA) treatments lying in the sensitization range, viz. 700 ?C for 30 minutes, 500 minutes and 1000 minutes for studying the influence of carbide precipitation on thei...
متن کاملExperimental Quantification of Phase Transformation in Austenitic Stainless Steel
This conference paper briefly discusses different techniques for measuring the evolution of the martensite content in cold-rolled stainless steel 301LN sheets under mechanical loading. Three methods are employed to measure the martensite content: (1) micrography, (2) bulk magnetic induction, and (3) local magnetic permeability measurements. The first two methods require the extraction of sample...
متن کاملUltrasonic Characterization of Austenitic Stainless Steel in Thermal Variations
This work focuses on the ultrasonic characterization and hardness of Austenitic stainless steel in thermal variation. The sample which was heat treated at 1050 o C has the highest hardness value and plays a dominant role in dispersion of carbides. Shear wave velocity and hardness show similar trend in variation with temperature. The effect of volume expansion would be to decrease the elastic co...
